Fat Injections
Fat injections are an excellent solution to facial wrinkles, depressed scars, and other skin imperfections. They involve the transfer of fat from one part of the patient’s body to another; this makes it highly unlikely that the patient will have an allergic reaction. During this skin care procedure, the donor site — typically the buttocks or abdomen — is numbed and injected with a fluid, which allows for easier removal of fat. The fat is then extracted via a needle and syringe and carefully injected into the area to be treated. Because some of this fat will inevitably be reabsorbed by the body, the treatment area will most likely be overfilled. Fat injections, though not permanent, last several months and can be repeated as desired. Restylane®

Sclerotherapy
Spider veins, also called superficial varicose veins or telangiectasias, are greenish, bluish, or purplish veins that appear to break and rise to the surface of the skin. Often, they are very noticeable and are typically found on the legs. Although their exact cause has yet to be determined, scientists speculate that spider veins are hereditary. While these veins are harmless, they are, for many patients, embarrassing. In fact, many people with spider veins refuse to wear shorts, skirts, or other leg-bearing clothing. Thanks to advances in technology, Dr. Loewenstein can eliminate unsightly spider veins painlessly and permanently with sclerotherapy.
During sclerotherapy, purified solutions are injected into the treatment site, causing the veins to close up within four to six weeks. Although some sites need more than one injection, sclerotherapy can ultimately reduce the number of and appearance of these veins by nearly 80 percent. A relatively safe procedure, sclerotherapy does have some side effects, including bruising, blood vessel leakage, swelling, or redness, as well as slight blistering and increased pigmentation. Sclerotherapy is not recommended to those patients with clotting disorders or recent leg infections.

Laura Meroff has been in the Beauty and Wellness industry since 1992. She earned her Aesthetics Licensure at Alexander Thomas Academy of Body & Skin Care in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Over the past 15 years she has been employed by various spas in the Milwaukee Metro area; she recently joined the team at Greater Milwaukee Plastic Surgeons where she specializes in anti-aging skin care. Laura is certified in performing Chemical Peels, Portrait Resurfacing and Microdermabrasion. Her passion is to teach the significance of maintaining healthy skin, and to help patients appreciated the importance of their skin's vitality.
